To mark International Women’s Day, we sat down with some of the talented women in our organisation to hear their thoughts on career growth, challenges, inspiration, and what this day means to them. Through six key questions, they’ve shared their experiences, insights, and advice.

Louise Degn Østergaard – Sales Coordinator for Versalift Denmark

Can you introduce yourself and tell us your role at Versalift?

My name is Louise, and I’m 24 years old. I have been with the company for three and a half years, working as a Sales Coordinator for Versalift Denmark. In my role, I sell Versalift products to Ruthmann in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, handling orders and inquiries related to these products.

What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about my job is definitely my amazing coworkers. We always have fun together and support each other in any way we can. There’s always someone ready to help when you need it, which creates a great work environment.

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?

I really enjoy working in a production company where I get to see raw materials transformed into a finished product that truly meets the customer’s needs. In this industry, we create tailored solutions for our customers, and being part of that process is really exciting.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

That having a practical approach and learning as you go can take you a long way in your career. By being part of a company, you gain valuable knowledge about the products, business operations, and the industry, which helps you grow in your role.

What inspires you every day to keep doing what you do?

The collaboration and teamwork involved in finding the best solutions for our end customers. Whether I’m working with my coworkers, colleagues at Ruthmann, or our distributors, we always come together to find the right solutions. This also allows me to continuously learn more about our products and their technical aspects, which I really enjoy.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

Working in a male-dominated industry, I think it’s important to celebrate the women in our field. A day like today is an opportunity to recognize how far we’ve come as women in the workforce while also highlighting areas where there’s still room for improvement.

Sofia Gustafsson – Service Technician for Versalift Sweden

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your role at Versalift?

My name is Sofia Gustafsson, I am 33 years old, and I work at Versalift Sweden. I am based in the workshop in Jordbro, Stockholm. My role is Service Technician, responsible for the service operations in Jordbro, but I also travel to different locations around Stockholm for various jobs.

What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about this job is the variety of problem-solving tasks and the opportunity to meet different people!

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?

That there is always room for growth and development!

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never stop being curious – if you want something, you can achieve it!

What inspires you every day to keep doing what you do?

I am someone who thrives on thinking critically and solving problems. The greatest joy of being a Service Technician is making customers happy, whether by solving a big or small issue – it’s always rewarding.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

For me, it’s about being proud to be a woman in an industry that is still very male-dominated. It’s also an opportunity to show that gender does not define your knowledge or skills!

Mette Præstegaard Sørensen – Head of Documentation for Versalift

Can you introduce yourself and tell us your role at Versalift?

My name is Mette, and I am the Head of Documentation at Versalift. I have been with the company for eight years. My team consists of four people besides myself, and we are responsible for all manuals, certifications, and parts lists.

What do you love most about your job?

I love that no two days are ever the same – things are constantly changing. My job is incredibly versatile; I have tasks at my desk, but I also spend time in the workshop, observing the machines we’re building. It’s never boring!

Additionally, I truly enjoy the management aspect of my role and working closely with my team every day.

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?

What I enjoy the most is working at this company! It makes me incredibly proud to see Versalift vehicles on the road, whether I’m in the UK, France, or just driving around Denmark.

I know we produce high-quality products, so seeing them in use reaffirms my pride in being part of Versalift.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One piece of advice I always keep in mind is to stay open to new opportunities and seize them when they arise. My current role is completely different from what I originally studied, but I got here because I wasn’t afraid to step outside my comfort zone and pursue exciting opportunities.

What inspires you every day to keep doing what you do?

Seeing that I am part of meaningful change. Knowing that my contributions help improve processes and provide solutions keeps me motivated. It’s rewarding to see that my work truly makes a difference.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day still serves an important purpose. It’s a valuable opportunity to highlight and address some of the challenges we continue to face today.

Holly Wake – Junior Marketing Coordinator at Versalift UK and Ireland

Can you introduce yourself and tell us your role at Versalift?

I am Holly, the Junior Marketing Coordinator at Versalift UK and Ireland. My role is managing all of the social media accounts for Versalift UK, Ireland and International. And I am currently studying my Level 4 Apprenticeship in marketing.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the support here, whatever idea I have the team always backs me on. No idea is a stupid idea. And when it comes to marketing I love the creative freedom for content creation.

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?

Seeing the platforms in action is always cool. Before I worked here I had no idea what a cherrypicker was, and now I can’t help seeing them everywhere.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Be yourself. It’s so easy to get bogged down with work stress, but keep being unapologetically yourself the whole way through. At the end of the day, we live on a floating rock.

What inspires you every day to keep doing what you do?

Seeing what I have achieved so early on in my career makes me so excited for the future, I have no idea where I will be in 10 or 20 years, so there is so much to look forward to.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International women’s day highlights how far we have come, and how far we have left to go. I think it’s a great day to raise awareness on the topic of equality for everyone.

Stéphanie – Supplier at France Elévateur

Can you introduce yourself and tell us your role at France Elévateur?

My name is Stéphanie and I am a supplier at France Elévateur. My job consists of placing orders for parts with different suppliers and monitoring the factory’s stocks. My goal is to provide the elements necessary for the smooth running of the production schedule.

What do you love most about your job?

The challenge, the organisation, the contact with available and responsive suppliers, the work with the different departments (logistics, purchasing, design office, quality, accounting, etc.) And of course, the proximity with the people who work in production, these are the elements that I like most about this job. Every day, I learn from professionals who are committed to doing a good job!

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?

In this sector there are a variety of industries, an evolution of technology and practices to remain competitive and it adapts to environmental issues.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Stay yourself!

What inspires you every day to keep doing what you do?

My curiosity is infinite, it is important to continue learning and discovering skills.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

This day symbolises a fierce struggle of women who have done everything to make themselves heard and exist. I thank them all for the rights granted to us today. Let us continue, all together, to fight for women’s rights and against inequalities.

Becca Head – Digital Marketing Coordinator at Versalift UK and Ireland

Can you introduce yourself and tell us your role at Versalift?

I’m Becca, the Digital Marketing Coordinator for Versalift UK and Ireland. My role looks after the UK, Ireland and International websites, creating email campaigns, and supporting the creation of social media content with SEO-optimisation in mind.

What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about my job is the opportunity to not only learn new digital marketing skills, but have the freedom to be creative with Versalift’s brand. From writing copy, to designing webpages and brand imagery – I am allowed to put my skills to the test whilst continuing to develop myself and my career.

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?

The access equipment industry is still new to me, however so far, I can tell it is one that makes a huge impact to the world. Many of our platforms are part of huge changes and tasks that happen every day, from fixing damages due to storms, to installing new signage, or fixing a broken streetlight. Our platforms are what help workers at height remain safe during difficult and scary tasks – and that to me is what I love about working in the industry. Knowing I am marketing something that makes a difference and makes many employees jobs a whole lot safer.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never stop learning and own what you do. No matter what sector you are in, things are constantly changing. Absorb everything you can, from everyone you meet. Yes, some of it you might decide to not take on board, but you haven’t let yourself miss out on anything that could help you build a successful career.

What inspires you every day to keep doing what you do?

To live a happy life and achieve my personal goals. Cringe, I know. But being able to say I work in a career that genuinely excites me, has me scribbling ideas down when doing the food shop, inspiring me to be creative, and seeing people, and brands I work for love my work – well that is what makes me want to keep doing what I do.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

To me, International Women’s Day is not only a reminder about celebrating women everyday, but also focusing on women who have worked hard to shape their careers. In a world where women see shared opportunities as competition, I think it’s important to support each other, inspire one another, and celebrate everything we have and can achieve.

Virginie – Receptionist at France Elévateur

Can you introduce yourself and tell us your role at Versalift?

I am Virginie, a Receptionist at the France Elévateur headquarters. I welcome customers, manage the switchboard, mail and stock of administrative supplies. I handle emails and various requests, such as booking hotel rooms, meal trays or any other need related to the organisation.

What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy human contact and the face to face aspect.

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?

I enjoy the diversity of my daily tasks, I am always keeping myself busy.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I would say it was when someone told me one day: be yourself!

What inspires you every day to keep doing what you do?

Being able to maintain a work-life balance while doing an interesting job in a good general atmosphere.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

This day highlights the advances in rights, empowerment and equality for all women and girls in this world.
