TIME Danmark has delivered a unique Versalift vehicle mounted aerial work platform with elevator to Citelum in response to the company’s recent contract on street light maintenance in Copenhagen.

Citelum has taken delivery of a Versalift vehicle mounted aerial work platform (AWP) from TIME Danmark destined to help the company replace and service thousands of street lights in the municipality of Copenhagen. The transition to the more environmentally friendly LED fixtures is expected to cut energy expenditures by more than half greatly reducing the operating costs for the municipality.

Heavy Duty Versalift

The delivered AWP, a Versalift VT-66-LFE on a 15.5 ton MAN truck, is a top of the line model from the Versalift HD (Heavy Duty) range of AWPs with extra strong booms fabricated from high strength steel providing superior working conditions in the cage. The AWP vehicle is tailored to the specific requests of Citelum making it a truly unique product.

First AWP with elevator in Europe

Among the most spectacular customizations is the addition of an elevator capable of raising the turret of the AWP up to 3 metres bringing the total working height up from 22 to 25 metres. The most significant feature of the elevator is however its ability to reach 6 metres up and over traffic or obstacles, granting operators access to elevated worksites inaccessible to traditional AWPs as their straight boom movements would obstruct traffic at best. The elevator has been produced by parent company TIME Manufacturing Company since 2008, but the Citelum project marks the first time it has crossed the Atlantic and found its way to a vehicle mounted AWP on the European market. It is part of a modular system and is seamlessly compatible with other Versalift AWPs.

Silent hybrid with quality equipment

Capable of running on a noise reduced electrical engine powered by a battery pack, the hybrid AWP is suitable for the strict environmental requirements imposed on vehicles working in the inner city parts of Copenhagen. It is fitted with an advanced electro-hydraulic control system with automatic functions including automatic packing – and the toolboxes located on both sides of the chassis are TIME Smartbox toolboxes of foam covered by fiberglass for superior durability and condensation resistance. The interior of the toolboxes is high quality German Sortimo racking and shelving.

Unique AWP suitable for both demanding and simple challenges

The AWP is suitable for both complex and routine challenges. The ground clearance of 6 metres combined with the impressive outreach of 17 metres allows the AWP to reach otherwise inaccessible worksites located behind obstacles, on flat rooftops or on the other side of the road. But routine tasks replacing entire series of streetlights on a straight road is also efficient due to the AWP vehicles ability to work in a limited area without outriggers and the option to drive the vehicle with the cage still elevated – an option that is available for most Versalift AWPs.
