The 11th International Conference on Live Maintenance (ICOLIM) last week in Budapest saw four Insulated Versalift access platforms in demonstrations of safe live line maintenance.

ICOLIM is a conference hosted by the Live Working Association (LWA) for experts engaged in the development and implementation of methods and technologies for working with live overhead power lines. TIME International was at ICOLIM with an insulated VST-5500-MHI access platform on a MAN truck and we were genuinely impressed with the organization of the event that saw four Insulated Versalift access platforms in a demonstration of safe live line work on the final day. The various demonstrations were carried out from VST-5500 and VO-350 insulated Versalift access platforms on different chassis.

The conference was visited by various industry members from both sides of the table including linesmen, decision makers of energy corporations and manufacturers of live line equipment including insulated gloves, hot sticks and insulated access platforms. The conference was also visited by a large delegation of students from the Group of High Voltage Technology and Equipment from the nearby Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

ICOLIM is held every 3 years in different Europeans host cities and this year Budapest in Hungary hosted the event. Being a conference rather than a trade show ICOLIM is a good platform for the expert knowledge transfer between different actors in the live line maintenance industry beneficial to the everyday safety and work effectiveness of live line maintenance employees. We look forward to the next ICOLIM planned to take place in France 2017.
